Born on September 16, 1963, in Harlingen, Texas, Jeff Thompson proudly calls Kentucky home. Raised in the heart of the Bluegrass State, he attended high school in the Fayette County Public School system and has always been a loyal fan of the Kentucky Wildcats. In 2019, he returned home to Kentucky, bringing with him a wealth of experience in business, education, and public service.
Jeff Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree in business finance and an MBA from Liberty University, as well as a master’s degree in human resource training and development from Idaho State University. He has built a successful career as both a businessman and educator, and is a graduate of several nationally recognized leadership programs, including the Council of State Governments’ Henry Toll Fellowship and the Emerging Political Leaders Program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
Throughout his career, Jeff has held numerous leadership roles in public policy and conservative organizations. He served on the original and updated LINE (Leadership in Nuclear Energy) Commissions by gubernatorial appointment, chaired the Energy Committee for the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER), and participated in multiple national legislative organizations including the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), and the Council of State Governments (CSG), where he served on executive boards and key committees focused on education, energy, tax reform, and fiscal policy.
An unwavering supporter of conservative values, Jeff Thompson is a lifetime member of the NRA and has remained active in Republican politics at the local level. He is a proud member of the Fayette County Republican Party and has consistently supported the party through volunteer efforts, donations, and campaign support for strong conservative candidates.
In Idaho, where he previously served in public office, he was named Bonneville County Republican of the Year, served as a precinct committeeman, and was vice-chair of the county Republican Party. His dedication to community service is further reflected in his work with organizations such as the Salvation Army, Rotary Club, and local economic development partnerships.
Now back in Kentucky, Jeff is ready to serve the people of his home state with the same passion, integrity, and leadership he’s demonstrated throughout his career. He and his wife, Chanin, are proud to call the Bluegrass home once again.
Meet Jeff
Jeff on the Issues
A Seat Back at the Table
Jeff Thompson will work with our Republican majority to ensure District 45 isn’t left behind any longer. It’s time we had a seat at the table in Frankfort. Jeff will be a strong, respected, conservative voice who fights for our community.
Cut Taxes and Protect Your Wallet
Jeff knows the economic impact of giving Kentuckians more of their hard earned money. He will fight to lower taxes, reduce burdens on working families and small businesses, and make Kentucky a more affordable place to live, work, and retire. He will vote to eliminate the income tax in Kentucky.
Support Our First Responders
Jeff proudly backs the blue, and all our first responders. He’ll ensure police, firefighters, and medical professionals have the resources, respect, and protections they need to keep our communities safe and strong.
Tough on Crime
Crime has no place in our neighborhoods. Jeff will support strong laws, tough penalties, and policies that empower law enforcement to do their jobs, while keeping repeat offenders off our streets.
Excellence in Education
Every child deserves the opportunity to achieve the American Dream. Jeff supports common-sense education policies that focus on results, reward great teachers, and give parents more say in their children’s education.
Defend Free Speech
Our First Amendment is non-negotiable. Jeff will stand firm against cancel culture and defend your right to speak freely, worship openly, and raise your voice without fear.

Pro-Business, Pro-Growth
Jobs come from entrepreneurs, not government. Jeff will fight for fewer regulations, smarter investments, and a business-friendly climate that helps Kentucky companies thrive and creates more good-paying jobs for our families.
